AisleLok® Under Rack Panels
Applications
Designed to seal a variety of openings below the rack on new and existing raised server racks, the AisleLok® Under Rack Panel will block bypass airflow and maximize cooling system efficiency of the data center.
The AisleLok® Under Rack Panel is the premium choice for your facility. Its revolutionary sealing technology was designed to allow easy modifications creating the flexibility to seal large and unique openings such as those found under various sized racks and cabinets. The pre-scored lines on the back of the Under Rack Panel allows for easy and tool-less removal of excess material for areas where the opening under the rack is smaller. The AisleLok® Under Rack Panel fits standard racks up to 31.5"
Based on measurements at multiple data centers, on average 60% of valuable conditioned air is not reaching the air intake of IT equipment. This lost air, known as bypass airflow, contributes to IT equipment hot spots, cooling unit inefficiencies, and increasing infrastructure costs. AisleLok® products specifically address bypass airflow and its detrimental effects on data center cooling.
*Studies of typical data centers and typical energy costs reveal energy loss due to bypass airflow underneath a typical equipment cabinet equal to $25 per year. Buy now and get your money back in less than a year!
Features
- Two designs which feature longer, durable sealing panels (27.5" and 31.5") which are customizable to seal a variety of gaps under the server rack
- Rigid PVC support frame, with a double sided adhesive, provides a permanent and non-particulating attachment to the rack. The softer, flexible sealing material easily forms under the rack and can be customized as needed
- Tool-less application – simply "peel and stick"
- Under Rack Panel seals more effectively than a comparable brush without sagging
- AisleLok® products are compliant with directive 2002/95/EC of the European Parliament and the Council on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electric Equipment (RoHS)
- Pre-scored lines on the back of the Under Rack Panel allows for easy and tool-less removal of excess material when needed
Benefits
- Lower cost solution for filling a higher number of missing U space
- Eliminates re-circulation inside the cabinet and "hot spots" at equipment intakes due to re-circulation
- Compliments and enhances the performance of existing blanking panels in the server rack
- Supports equipment cabinet best practices of isolating exhaust air at the back of the cabinet
- Improves IT equipment reliability and extends equipment life
- Supports increasing rack and density
- Increases existing cooling unit capacity

Installation
The AisleLok Under Rack Panel fits standard racks, up to 31.5” and is designed to minimize airflow underneath the rack. Before removing the adhesive backing from the Under Rack Panel, align the Panel with the rack to ensure proper fit location before installation.
- Clean the rack bottom surface.
- Remove the adhesive backing material from the Under Rack Panel.
- Attach the Panel to the bottom of the rack.
- Press firmly along the length of the adhesive backing to ensure AisleLok Under Rack Panel
remains in place.
The Panel should rest flush on the tile, with no gaps, to minimize airflow underneath the rack. When installed, the Panel may create an overlap on adjacent server cabinets. The overlap is an intentional design, specifically blocking the bypass airflow between the adjacent server cabinets. The Panel at the end of the aisle will need to be trimmed back so the overlap is not protruding.
Maintaining Proper Cooling of Equipment
Failure to follow computer manufacturer’s guidelines for maintaining proper cooling may result in the overheating of equipment. Before minimizing under rack airflow, ensure that proper airflow to the intake side of computer equipment or cabinets is feasible through the use of devices such as perforated floor tiles. Achieving proper airflow to the intake side of computer equipment and/or cabinets is the responsibility of the customer.
